Former Karnataka High Court judge Bhimanagouda Sanganagouda Patil has been sworn in as the Lokayukta of Karnataka.
Governor Thaawarchand Gehlot administered the oath of office to Justice Patil at a ceremony in Raj Bhavan, Bengaluru.
Justice Patil, who also served as the Upalokayukta of Karnataka.
The move to appoint Justice Patil as the Lokayukta comes nearly six months after the tenure of the previous Lokayukta, Justice Vishwanath Shetty, ended in January.
