Heavyweight boxer Kaur Singh, the lone home boxer to land a gold medal in the 1982 New Delhi Asian Games and who was also known for his exhibition bout with the legendary Muhammad Ali in 1980, passed away.
He was 74 and was undergoing treatment for multiple health problems.
Kaur Singh was the first from the Sikh Regiment to get the Arjuna Award and Padma Shri.
He was conferred with the Arjuna Award in 1982 and Padma Shri in 1983.
He also competed in the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics.
He also coached Punjab Police at the Hyderabad National championships in 2007.
