  • The United Nations Development Program (UNDP) recently released the Asia-Pacific Human Development Report.
  • According to this report, India has become one of the high income countries.
  • But there is also a huge increase in inequality in income and wealth.
  • According to the report, between the year 2000 and 2022, per capita income in India has increased from $442 to $2389.
  • At the same time, between 2004 and 2019, poverty has reduced from 40% to 10%.
  • According to the report, women's share in work participation is only 23 percent.
  • The richest 10% of the country own more than half of the country's wealth.
  • Whereas 18.50 crore people are forced to live in poverty whose income is less than 2.15 dollars i.e. 180 rupees.
  • In the states where 45% of the country's population resides, 62% of their population is poor.
  • The United Nations Development Program was established in the year 1965.
