AIIMS Delhi has achieved a landmark in India’s stroke care by conducting the country’s first clinical trial of the indigenous Supernova brain stent under the GRASSROOT study. Evaluated across eight centres, the trial demonstrated excellent safety and efficacy for severe large vessel strokes. Following publication in the Journal of Neurointerventional Surgery, the CDSCO approved the device for routine use. Developed under Make-in-India, the Supernova stent promises affordable, advanced stroke care tailored to Indian patients, marking a milestone in domestic medical innovation.
