  • The name of the franchise was unveiled ahead of the 2nd ODI between India and West Indies in Ahmedabad.
  • The Ahmedabad team of the Indian Premier League will be led by Hardik Pandya.
  • The franchise, which is owned by private equity firm CVC Capital, said that the name was chosen to pay tribute to the state’s rich cricketing legacy.
  • The naming of the Ahmedabad franchise comes days after Lucknow, owned by RPSG Group, announced its official name as Lucknow Super Giants. KL Rahul is leading the Lucknow team.
