  • Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a big announcement during his interaction with start-ups on Saturday, announcing that from now onwards every year January 16 will be celebrated as 'National Start-up Day'.
  • PM Modi called for freeing entrepreneurship, innovation from the web of government processes. He said that it is very important to create an institutional mechanism to promote innovation.
  • India's ranking in the Global Innovation Index has improved a lot. 
  • India was ranked 81 in this ranking in the year 2015, now India is at number 46 in the Innovation Index.
