Prime Minister Narendra Modi made a big announcement during his interaction with start-ups on Saturday, announcing that from now onwards every year January 16 will be celebrated as 'National Start-up Day'.
PM Modi called for freeing entrepreneurship, innovation from the web of government processes. He said that it is very important to create an institutional mechanism to promote innovation.
India's ranking in the Global Innovation Index has improved a lot.
India was ranked 81 in this ranking in the year 2015, now India is at number 46 in the Innovation Index.
