  • The 12th edition of the biennial Defence Expo began in Ahmedabad and Gandhinagar of Gujarat.
  • It is the largest defence exhibition of Asia.
  • Seventy-five countries are taking part in DefExpo 2022.
  • The theme of Defexpo 2022 is 'Path to Pride' in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision to transform India into a strong and self-reliant nation.
  • The Defence Minister termed DefExpo 2022, exclusively for Indian companies, as a humble tribute of an 'Aatmanirbhar Bharat' to Mahatma Gandhi who he called the "pillar of the Swadeshi movement".
  • The objective is to cater to domestic defence requirements as well as fulfilling the needs of friendly foreign countries.
