The UP Police Sub-Inspector (SI) recruitment is a multi-stage process conducted by the Uttar Pradesh Police Recruitment and Promotion Board (UPPRPB). The process aims to select candidates who are both academically qualified and physically fit for the role.
Selection Process:
The selection process for the UP Police SI vacancy consists of four main stages:
Written Examination: This is a computer-based test (CBT) that evaluates candidates' knowledge across four subjects.
Document Verification & Physical Standard Test (PST): Candidates who pass the written exam have their documents verified and their physical measurements (height, chest, etc.) checked.
Physical Efficiency Test (PET): This stage assesses the physical endurance of the candidates through a running test.
Medical Examination and Character Verification: The final stage involves a medical examination to ensure candidates are medically fit, followed by a thorough character and background check.

Essential Educational Qualifications:
(A) Sub Inspector:
Bachelor's degree (Graduation) from an Indian university established by law, or any equivalent qualification recognised by the government.
(B) Platoon Commander or PAC
Bachelor's degree (Graduation) from an Indian university established by law, or any equivalent qualification recognised by the government.
(C) Platoon Commander Special Force
Bachelor's degree (Graduation) from an Indian university established by law, or any equivalent qualification recognised by the government.
(D) Sub Inspector Female Battalion
Bachelor's degree (Graduation) from an Indian university established by law, or any equivalent qualification recognised by the government.
Preferential Qualifications:
• Possess 'O' Level Certificate in Computer from DOEACC/NIELIT Society, or
• Have served for at least two years served in the Territorial Army, or
• Possess 'B' certificate of National Cadet Corps
Age limit:
The candidate must have attained the age of 21 years on 01-07-2025 and must not have attained the age of 28 years i.e. the candidate should not have been born before 02-07-1997 and after 01-07-2004.
**The upper age limit for candidates belonging to the Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes, and other groups will be increased by the number of years stated in the Act and related Government regulations at the time of vacancies notification.**
**But that in order of Government Order No.: 972187/6-1001 (008)/24/2023., dated 26.05.2025 of the Government of Uttar Pradesh, for giving relaxation in age in this recruitment, a relaxation of 03 years will be given for one time as an exception to the candidates of all categories in the age limit prescribed for this recruitment only.**
The permitted upper age limit relaxations are as follows:

Important Note:
I. Total Number of Question and Total Number of Marks are 160 and 400 respectively.
II. Duration of Examination is 120 minutes.
III. For each correct answer candidate will get 2.5 marks.
IV. There will be no negative for incorrect answers.
V. The candidates will score at least 35% marks in each section and overall 50% marks.

UP Police SI : Physical Efficiency Test
• The candidates found successful in the scrutiny of records and in the physical standard test will be expected to appear in the physical efficiency test which will be of qualifying nature.
• To be successful in the Physical Efficiency Test, a Male Candidate will have to Run a 4.8 km run in 28 minutes and a Female Candidate will have to Run a 2.4 km run in 6 minutes.
