1. Why in News? 

The news highlights the tragic civilian death of Sukhwinder Kaur in Ferozepur district, Punjab, due to a Pakistani strike during heightened tensions between India and Pakistan following cross-border military actions and terror attacks.


2. Background 

On April 22, a terrorist attack in Pahalgam, J&K killed 26 civilians.

India responded with precision strikes on May 6–7 on nine terror targets in Pakistan and PoK.

Pakistan retaliated by targeting Indian civilian areas including Punjab.

Civilians like Sukhwinder Kaur became unintended victims of this military escalation.
