Why in News?

India and Qatar have elevated their bilateral ties to the level of a strategic partnership. This development follows the visit of Qatari Emir Sheikh Tamim Bin Hamad Al-Thani to India and discussions with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. The partnership aims to enhance cooperation in trade, investment, security, and regional issues. Additionally, both countries are exploring the possibility of a Free Trade Agreement (FTA), and a double taxation avoidance pact was signed.
