Haryanvi culture and its meaning

Orna - A tool made of bamboo used for sowing.
Kajawa- A means of washing things by placing them on the back of the camel, which was kept on the plan.
Kadbi - straw of millet / jowar plants.
Kadhavani- A pot for heating milk in the hare.
Kasar/Panjiri - Dry powder made by roasting flour and adding sweetness to it.
Kahod- Such wood which is divided into two parts and on which water is drawn from the well by applying chalk.
Keela- The axle of a hand-operated mill on which the upper plate rotates.
Kunda - A clay vessel in which the dough was kneaded.
Kulda- A small earthen pot like pot, which was used to pour water, lassi etc.
Kuldi- A vessel of smaller size than Kulde.
Kus / Phal - An iron tool used in the plow.
Kunchi – A structure placed on top of a camel to ride it.
Koop/Bunga - A structure made of reeds/weed for feeding.
Kothla- Big earthen pot for putting grain.
Kothli- A small earthen vessel for putting grain.
Khat - bunk.
Khel - The water tank for animals to drink.
Khodiya - a dance.
Garand - The circle of the hand mill in which the ground flour falls.
Girdi- A round shaped stone instrument which is used for threshing.
Gunn- The pit in which camels or bulls go while drawing water from the well.
Gosse / Uple / Pathiye - dung cakes.
Ghildi - an earthen vessel for pouring ghee.
Chak- The round wheel made of wood on which water is drawn from the well by mounting a rope.
Chaki- A machine made of stone to grind flour.
Chidas - A leather vessel from which water was drawn from the well.
Churma- A dish prepared by making thick bread crumbs by adding ghee to it.
Chhaj- A vessel made of tulips on the upper part of the reed which is used to clean the grain.
Chhalni - A vessel made of iron which is used for filtering.
Chikka - A rope to hold ghee, milk or roti. The burn on the mouth of animals is also called chikka.
Jamawani - a pot of milk.
Jamana - Buttermilk added for milking.
Juwa/Juda - A wooden structure used for plowing a camel or bull in a plow.
Jhal/Maun - A pot of bigger size than an earthen pot.
Jhawla- An earthen vessel to cover the pot (kadavani) for heating milk, in which there were holes for steam to escape.
Jhavali- A clay vessel in which goods were put.
Tokeni- Brass pitcher.
Dhana- The cistern in which water is taken out from the well and poured into it.
Tudi - Straw of wheat/barley plants.
Dubka - tying the feet of a camel or any other animal so that it cannot run away.
Doghad- Two pots together on top and bottom on the head.
Dhora/Dhana – A drain to drain water in the fields.
Nala/Nalai/Ninan- Crop
Nangla - Two ropes used to keep the rye straight.
Neta - A rope that spins the cotton wool by hand.
Note- The machine for making pots like clay pots etc. is also called Chak.
Nyana- The rope to tie the cow's hind legs before milking it.
Pankhi – A hand-swirling fan to blow air.
Panjwal - The one who gives water to the field.
Panghat- The public well from where drinking water was brought.
Paniharan - The one who brings water from the well.
Pant/Seera- A thin dish prepared by roasting flour and adding sweet water to it.
Pali - cattle herder.
Puli- Plants tied together for some time before the harvest of the crop.
Plan - A wooden structure placed on the back of a camel before it is plowed into the cart.

Jug - a pot-shaped earthen pot with a long neck and a hole in the middle to drain water.
Prune- Pruning done before ploughing in the field.
Halsotia - Celebration of the day of sowing start.
Handeli- The part of the plow which is held and used to plow.
Hara- A place to cook something by burning cow dung cakes.
Hari- A round circle made of cloth or grass on which a hot pot was kept.
