    Overview

    The Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) has issued the official notification for the IB ACIO Exam 2025 to appoint suitable candidates for the post of Assistant Central Intelligence Officer (ACIO) Grade-II/Executive. 

    This position falls under Group ‘C’ and is non-gazetted, involving crucial duties related to intelligence collection and ensuring national security.

    The IB ACIO/Executive notification was published on the official website [mha.gov.in] on July 19, 2025, and the deadline for submitting the online application form is August 10, 2025.

    Candidates who are successfully selected under the Intelligence Bureau Recruitment 2025 will be appointed at Pay Level-7, with a salary scale ranging from ₹44,900 to ₹1,42,400. Additionally, they will be entitled to benefits such as Dearness Allowance (DA), House Rent Allowance (HRA), and Special Security Allowances.

    To be eligible for this recruitment, applicants must have completed Graduation or an equivalent qualification from a recognized university. Furthermore, the applicant’s age must be between 18 and 27 years.

    Eligibility

    Essential Qualification:

    Candidates must possess a Graduation degree or an equivalent qualification from a recognized university.

    Desirable Qualification:

    Candidates having knowledge of computers will be preferred.

    Age Limit:

    Applicants should be between 18 to 27 years as on 10.08.2025.

    Age Relaxation Provisions:

    SC/ST candidates: Upper age limit is relaxable by 5 years.

    OBC candidates: Upper age limit is relaxable by 3 years.

    Departmental candidates: Up to the age of 40 years, provided they have completed 3 years of regular and continuous service. This applies only to Central Government civilian employees in civil posts and does not apply to those employed in PSUs, Autonomous Bodies, or Statutory Organizations.

    For Widows, divorced women, and judicially separated women (not remarried):

    UR: Up to 35 years

    OBC: Up to 38 years

    SC/ST: Up to 40 years

    Ex-servicemen: Age relaxation will be granted as per Central Government rules and instructions issued from time to time.

    Meritorious sportspersons: Age relaxation up to a maximum of 5 years is permissible.

    Tier 2 Exam:

    This is a descriptive paper with a total of 50 marks. The duration of this exam is 60 minutes. The sections include:

    Essay Writing (20 marks) on topics related to current affairs, socio-political, economic issues, etc.

    English Comprehension and Précis Writing (10 marks for Comprehension, 20 marks for Long Answer Questions) which may include a reading comprehension passage with questions.

    Tier 3 (Interview):

    Candidates who qualify in Tier 1 and Tier 2 are called for the interview. The interview is for 100 marks and assesses the candidate's personality, communication skills, and knowledge.

    Application Fee

    Examination Fee:

    The examination fee consists of two components:

    Recruitment Processing Charges: Rs. 550/- (to be paid by all candidates)

    Examination Fee: Rs. 100/-

    The total fee payable varies by category:

    Male candidates of General, EWS, and OBC categories: Rs. 650/- (Rs. 550/- Recruitment Processing Charges + Rs. 100/- Examination Fee).

    All other candidates (SC/ST, Ex-Servicemen eligible for reservation, and all female candidates): Rs. 550/- (only the Recruitment Processing Charges).

    Note:

    Ex-servicemen who have already secured employment in the civil side under the Central Government in a Group 'C' post on a regular basis after availing benefits of reservation are required to pay both the Examination Fee (Rs. 100/-) and the Recruitment Processing Charges (Rs. 550/-), for a total of Rs. 650/-.

    Banking charges, if any, will be borne by the candidate.

    The application form is integrated with the payment gateway. Payment can be made through both online and offline modes.

    How to Apply

    Before You start filling Application:

    Make sure you have the following ready-

    A valid email ID and mobile number (for communication).

    Scanned copies of your passport-sized photograph and signature, as per the specified dimensions and size (typically 50-100 KB for both, in JPG/JPEG format). The photograph should be a black-and-white photo with a light background.

    Required details for educational qualifications (marks, percentage, etc.).

    A Debit Card, Credit Card, or Net Banking details for online fee payment. If you prefer the offline method, you will need to generate an SBI challan.

    Step 1: Online Registration:

    Visit the Official Website: Go to the official website of the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) at www.mha.gov.in.

    Find the Recruitment Link: On the homepage, look for the "Online Applications for the posts of ACIO Grade II/Executive in Intelligence Bureau (IB)" or a similar link under the "What's New" or "Recruitment" section.

    New User Registration: Click on the registration link. You will be redirected to a new page where you need to fill in your personal and contact details.

    Enter Details: Provide your name, father's name, mother's name, date of birth, mobile number, and a valid email address. These details cannot be changed later, so fill them carefully.

    Generate Credentials: After successful registration, a unique User ID and Password will be generated and sent to your registered email ID and mobile number. Note these down for future logins.

    Step 2: Filling the Application Form:

    Login: Use the generated User ID and Password to log in to the application portal.

    Fill in Personal Details: Complete the application form by filling in your personal information, address, and other required details.

    Enter Educational Qualifications: Provide accurate details of your academic qualifications, from matriculation to graduation.

    Select Exam Cities: You will be asked to choose your preferred examination cities from the provided list. Candidates can typically select five cities.

    Upload Documents: Upload your scanned photograph and signature as per the specifications mentioned in the official notification. Ensure the images are clear and meet the size and format requirements.

    Review and Submit: Before final submission, carefully review all the details you have entered. Make sure there are no spelling mistakes or factual errors.

    Final Submission: Once you are sure all details are correct, click on the "Final Submit" button.

    Step 3: Fee Payment:

    Redirect to Payment Gateway: After submitting the form, you will be redirected to the payment gateway to pay the application fee.

    Choose Payment Mode: Select your preferred mode of payment (Debit Card, Credit Card, Internet Banking, UPI, or SBI Challan).

    Complete Transaction: Pay the required fee based on your category. If paying online, follow the instructions to complete the transaction. If paying offline, generate and print the SBI challan. Deposit the fee at any SBI branch during banking hours within the specified deadline.

    Print Acknowledgment: After a successful payment, a confirmation page will be displayed. Download and take a printout of the application form and the payment receipt for your records. This is crucial for future reference.
