The 2026 recruitment drive aims to fill a total of 1,679 vacancies across various departments. The distribution of posts is as follows:
Jail Prahari: 757 posts
Van Rakshak (Forest Guard): 728 posts
Kshetra Rakshak (Field Guard): 169 posts
Assistant Jail Superintendent: 25 posts
The online application process started on February 28, 2026, and the last date to apply is March 14, 2026. The written examination is scheduled to commence on April 7, 2026.
Eligibility is based on educational qualifications, age limits, and physical standards as of January 1, 2026.
Educational Qualification:
Van Rakshak, Kshetra Rakshak, and Jail Prahari: Candidates must have passed Class 10 (High School) from a recognized board.
Assistant Jail Superintendent: Candidates must hold a Graduate Degree in any stream from a recognized university.
Age Limit:
Minimum Age: 18 years (21 years for Assistant Jail Superintendent).
Maximum Age (General/Unreserved Male): 33 years.
Maximum Age (SC/ST/OBC, Women, and Govt. Employees): 38 years (includes a 5-year relaxation).
Physical Standards:
For Van Rakshak/Field Guard: Male candidates need a height of 163 cm and a chest of 79 cm (5 cm expansion). Female candidates need a height of 150 cm.
For Jail Prahari: Male candidates need a height of 165 cm and a chest of 83 cm (unexpanded). Female candidates need a height of 158 cm.
The fee must be paid online via Credit Card, Debit Card, Net Banking, or UPI.
General / Other State Candidates: ₹500 per paper.
SC / ST / OBC / EWS / PH (MP Domicile): ₹250 per paper.
Portal Charges: An additional ₹60 is charged for applications through Kiosks, or ₹20 for users applying through the registered citizen portal.
The selection is conducted in multiple stages to ensure candidates are both academically and physically fit for the roles:
Written Examination: A computer-based test (CBT) consisting of 100 Multiple Choice Questions (MCQs) for 100 marks. The subjects include General Knowledge, Hindi, English, Mathematics, and Science. The duration is 2 hours.
Physical Efficiency Test (PET) & Physical Standard Test (PST):
Forest/Field Guard: A walking test of 25 km for males and 14 km for females, to be completed within 4 hours.
Jail Prahari: An 800-meter run (2 min 50 sec for males; 4 min for females) and a Shot Put throw.
Document Verification: Scrutiny of original educational certificates, caste certificates, and identity proofs.
Medical Examination: A final fitness assessment to ensure the candidate meets the health requirements of the specific department.
