This state-level examination is mandatory for candidates aspiring to become teachers in government schools for Primary (Classes 1–5) and Upper Primary (Classes 6–8) levels.

The JTET Exam Pattern 2026 has been officially announced for both Paper 1 and Paper 2.

Paper 1 is conducted for primary teachers and Paper 2 is for upper primary teachers.

The examination is held in offline mode using the pen and paper format.

There is no negative marking in the written exam.

The test comprises multiple-choice questions (MCQs) where candidates must select the correct answer from the given options.

Candidates appearing for the Jharkhand TET 2026 must attempt both papers separately.

The question paper is available in both Hindi and English languages.

The exam duration is 2 hours and 30 minutes, with an additional 30 minutes allotted for visually impaired candidates.

    Eligibility

    1. Age Limit:

    Minimum Age: Applicants must be at least 21 years of age as of August 1, 2026.

    Maximum Age: The maximum age limit shall be in accordance with the regulations prescribed for government service by the Department of Personnel, Administrative Reforms, and Official Language, Jharkhand, Ranchi.

    2. Educational Qualification for Paper I (Classes 1 to 5):

    Candidates must fulfill at least one of the following requirements:

    Senior Secondary (Class 12) or equivalent with at least 50% marks and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education (D.El.Ed).

    Senior Secondary with at least 45% marks and a 2-year D.El.Ed (as per NCTE regulations).

    Senior Secondary with at least 50% marks and a 4-year Bachelor of Elementary Education (B.El.Ed).

    Senior Secondary with at least 50% marks and a 2-year Diploma in Special Education.

    Graduation and a 2-year Diploma in Elementary Education.

     

    Application Fee

    Application Fees:

    General/OBC/EWS: ₹1,300 for one paper or ₹1,500 for both papers.

    SC/ST/PwD: ₹700 for one paper or ₹800 for both papers.

    Primitive Tribal Group (PVTG): ₹500 for one paper or ₹600 for both papers.
