Summary

The LIC AAO exam is a national-level recruitment drive conducted by the Life Insurance Corporation of India (LIC) to select eligible candidates for the post of Assistant Administrative Officer. The selection process is a three-tiered structure consisting of a Preliminary Examination, a Main Examination, and an Interview, followed by a pre-recruitment medical test. The marks from the preliminary exam are not considered for the final merit list; only the scores from the Mains and the Interview are used for final selection.

    Eligibility

    To be eligible for the LIC AAO 2025 exam, candidates must meet specific age and educational criteria as of August 1, 2025.

    Age Limit as on (01.08.2025):

    Minimum Age: 21 years

    Maximum Age: 30 years

    Candidates must have been born between August 2, 1995, and August 1, 2004 (both dates inclusive).

    Age relaxation is provided for candidates from reserved categories (e.g., SC/ST, OBC, PwBD) as per government norms.

    Educational Qualification as on (01.08.2025)::

    AAO (Generalist): A Bachelor's Degree in any discipline from a recognized Indian University or Institution.

    AAO (Specialist): Specific educational qualifications are required depending on the specialist post, such as a Bachelor's Degree with a professional qualification (e.g., CA, CS, Actuarial, Legal, etc.). You should check the official notification for the detailed requirements for each specialist post. 

     

    Exam Pattern

    The LIC AAO exam has two main written stages: Prelims and Mains. Both exams are conducted online.

    Preliminary Examination (Phase I):

    This is a qualifying exam.

    It consists of an objective test with a total duration of 60 minutes.

    There is no negative marking.

    The exam includes three sections: Reasoning Ability, Quantitative Aptitude, and English Language.

    *The English Language section is only for qualification, and its marks are not counted for ranking.

    Main Examination (Phase II):

    This exam consists of both an objective test and a descriptive test. objective tests for 300 marks and descriptive test for 25 marks.

    The objective test sections for Generalist posts include: Reasoning Ability, General Knowledge & Current Affairs, Data Analysis & Interpretation, and Insurance & Financial Market Awareness.

    The objective test sections for Specialist posts include: Reasoning Ability, General Awareness (with special reference to Insurance and Financial Market Awareness), and Professional Knowledge.

    The descriptive test requires candidates to demonstrate their communication skills through tasks like letter writing and essay writing.

    ** Descriptive test of English Language will be of qualifying nature and the marks thereof will not be counted for ranking

    Descriptive paper of only those candidates will be evaluated who qualify in the objective part of main examination. 

    Vacancies

    A total of 841 vacancies have been announced for the LIC AAO and Assistant Engineer (AE) positions in the 2025 recruitment.

    AAO Generalist: 350 vacancies

    AAO Specialist: 410 vacancies

    Assistant Engineer (AE): 81 vacancies

    Navigate to the "Careers" section and click on the link for the LIC AAO & AE Recruitment 2025.

    Click on "New Registration" to create your login credentials.

    Fill out the online application form with all the required personal, academic, and contact details.

    Upload scanned copies of your recent passport-sized photograph and signature in the specified format.

    Pay the application fee online using a debit card, credit card, net banking, or other available options.

    Review all the details carefully and submit the form.

    Take a printout of the completed application form and the payment receipt for future reference.

    *The application window is open from August 16, 2025, to September 8, 2025.
