World Savings Day is celebrated every year on 31 October all over the world.
But in India this day is celebrated every year on 30 October.
This day is celebrated to promote the importance of savings and saving money is very important in today's world.
The International Savings Congress was organized in Italy in the year 1924.
A proposal to celebrate this day was presented for the first time in this Congress.
Celebrating this day started with the establishment of the first International Savings Bank Congress in the year 1925.
The purpose of this day is to 'save' or 'reserve' a part of your regular income so that it can be used to build a bright future.
The theme of this day has been 'Win your tomorrow through savings'.
