  • केंद्रीय पर्यावरण मंत्री भूपेंद्र यादव के नेतृत्व में राष्ट्रीय वन्यजीव बोर्ड की स्थायी समिति ने लद्दाख में नए IAF बेस के प्रस्ताव को मंजूरी दे दी है।
  • वास्तविक नियंत्रण रेखा (LAC) के ठीक बगल में, चांगथांग अभयारण्य क्षेत्र में 500 हेक्टेयर भूमि पर नया आधार बनाया जाएगा।
  • चांगथांग अभयारण्य क्षेत्र लेह जिले में एक ठंडा रेगिस्तानी अभयारण्य है। यह तिब्बती जंगली गधा, किआंग और दुर्लभ काले गर्दन वाले सारस का घर है।
  • वर्तमान में, लद्दाख में IAF का प्रमुख हवाई अड्डा लेह में स्थित है।
