WHO confirms Kenya’s elimination of sleeping sickness as a public health problem:

Kenya has been officially validated by the World Health Organization (WHO) as having eliminated human African trypanosomiasis (HAT), also known as sleeping sickness, as a public health problem, making it the tenth country to reach this milestone. HAT is the second neglected tropical disease eliminated in Kenya, following the eradication of Guinea worm disease in 2018. Caused by the parasite Trypanosoma brucei and spread through the bite of infected tsetse flies, HAT mainly affects rural populations engaged in agriculture, fishing, animal husbandry, or hunting.
