Vir Chakra Awardee KG George Passes Away at 95

  • KG George, retired Lance Havildar of Indian Army's Corps of Signals, passed away in Kottayam, Kerala.
  • Born in February 1931; decorated for extraordinary bravery during the 1965 India–Pakistan War.
  • Between September 6–10, 1965, he restored communication lines despite intense enemy shelling in the Wagah sector.
  • Awarded the Vir Chakra — India's third highest wartime gallantry award.
  • Corps of Signals established on February 15, 1911; responsible for Army communication networks.
