Uttar Pradesh to host 2023 Khelo India University Games

  • Uttar Pradesh will host the 2023 Khelo India University Games, the third edition of the event.
  • The multi-sport event will be conducted in four states- Varanasi, Lucknow, Noida and Gorakhpur.
  • Uttar Pradesh has got the opportunity to host the National University Games for the first time after Odisha and Karnataka.
  • The inaugural edition of the multi-discipline event was held in 2020 in Odisha while Karnataka was the host for the second edition held earlier this year.
  • The Khelo India University Games are designed to identify and train talented athletes in the 18 to 25 age bracket for the Olympics and Asian Games.
  • It is the largest university-level sports competition in India.
  • It is organized by the Sports Authority of India (SAI) and the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports along with the Association of Indian Universities, the Indian Olympic Association and the National Sports Federation.
