· The Yogi Adityanath government in UP declared an area of 10 sq km around the birthplace of Lord Krishna in Mathura-Vrindavan as 'Tirtha Sthal' (pilgrimage site).
· The sale of liquor and meat will be banned in this area comprising 22 wards of Mathura Municipal Corporation.
· Seven other places in Mathura associated with the lives of Lord Krishna and his beloved Radha had already been declared pilgrimage sites by the Yogi regime. These include Vrindavan, Gokul, Barsana, Nandgaon, Govardhan, Baldev and Radhakund.
