Union Cabinet Approves Vibrant Villages Programme II For Rs 6,839 Crore

  • The Union Cabinet approved the second phase of the 'Vibrant Village Program' initiated for the overall development of villages located along international borders on April 4, 2025. 
  • Under the chairmanship of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the Cabinet approved the second phase of this program (VVP-2) as a centrally funded scheme with 100% financing.
  • This program reinforces the commitment to the vision of 'Developed India 2047' for 'Secure, Protected and Vibrant Land Borders'. 
  • Its objective is to ensure prosperous and secure borders, control cross-border crime, and provide the bordering population with sufficient livelihood opportunities to obtain border-related sensitive information and improve their living standards. 
  • With a total budget of 6,839 crores, this program will be implemented by the fiscal year 2028-29 in selected strategically important villages of Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Bihar, Gujarat, Jammu and Kashmir, Ladakh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tripura, Uttarakhand, Uttar Pradesh, and West Bengal states/union territories.
