Scientists from the Zoological Survey of India have discovered two new marine worm species in polluted coastal zones of Digha and Bankiput in the Bay of Bengal. The species, Namalycastis solenotognatha and Nereis dhritiae, highlight hidden biodiversity and ecological resilience in stressed marine habitats. Researchers say these worms play an important role in nutrient cycling and maintaining coastal ecosystem health.
