The US successfully test-fires Raytheon's hypersonic weapon.

·         An air-breathing hypersonic weapon has been successfully tested by the United States that is said to be five times the speed of sound, marking the first successful test of the class of weapon since 2013.

·         This hypersonic weapon can travel in the upper atmosphere at more than five times the speed of sound, or about 6,200 kilometers (3,853 miles) per hour.

·         "The missile, manufactured by Raytheon Technologies, was launched into the air from an aircraft seconds before the Northrop Grumman scramjet (supersonic combustion ramjet) engine was launched.
