  • Senior Indian Information Service officer, Maushumi Chakravarty assumed the charge of Director General of Akashvani News today. 
  • A 1991 batch IIS officer, Ms Chakravarty has vast experience of working in several media organisations of the I&B Ministry, including the Press Information Bureau and Central Bureau of Communication.
  • In her career spanning over three decades, she has also worked on deputation basis in the National Human Rights Commission and as P.S. to Cabinet Minister. 
  • Ms Chakraborty takes charge as Principal Director General following the retirement of Ms Vasudha Gupta.
