Santoor maestro Shiv Kumar Sharma dies at 84

  • Legendary santoor player Pandit Shiv Kumar Sharma, who gave the little-known instrument an exalted status with his art, died of a heart attack in Mumbai.
  • The Jammu-born artiste was 84.
  • He has worked with several other legendary people like flautist Hariprasad Chaurasia and guitarist Brij Bhushan.
  • Pandit Shivkumar Sharma was awarded the Padma Shri in 1991. He received Padma Vibhushan in 2001.
