Senior journalist Sangeeta Barooah Pisharoty has made history by becoming the first woman president of the Press Club of India. Her panel achieved a clean sweep in the 2025 elections, winning all office-bearer and managing committee positions 21–0. Alongside her, Afzal Imam was elected secretary general, Jatin Gandhi as vice-president, and Aditi Rajput and P R Sunil as treasurer and joint secretary respectively. The 16-member managing committee represents diverse media platforms. Pisharoty’s election marks a milestone for gender representation and signals a strong focus on press freedom, journalist welfare, and institutional reforms.
