  • दिसंबर, 2023 में राज्यसभा द्वारा 'डाकघर विधेयक 2023' पारित कर दिया है।
  • यह भारतीय डाकघर अधिनियम, 1898 को प्रतिस्थापित करेगा।
  • लोकसभा इस विधेयक को पहले ही पास कर चुकी है।
  • ये विधेयक सभी अप्रचलित कानूनों या स्वतंत्रता-पूर्व अधिनियमों को निरस्त करने की केंद्र की योजना का हिस्सा हैं।
  • डाकघर विधेयक केंद्र सरकार के अधिकारियों को किसी भी वस्तु को रोकने, खोलने या हिरासत में लेने और उन्हें सीमा शुल्क प्राधिकरण तक पहुंचाने की अनुमति देगा।
  • अब भारतीय डाक के महानिदेशकों के पास नियम बनाने के साथ-साथ सेवाओं के लिए शुल्क तय करने का अधिकार भी होगा।
  • केंद्र सरकार अधिसूचना जारी कर किसी भी अधिकारी को राज्य की सुरक्षा, विदेशी राज्यों के साथ मैत्रीपूर्ण संबंधों, आपातकाल या सार्वजनिक सुरक्षा के हित में डाक से भेजे जा रहे सामान
  • पार्सल को रोकने या उसे खोलने का अधिकार दे सकती है।
