  • 'Nilwande Dam' is located in Ahmednagar district of Maharashtra.
  • This dam is built on the Pravara River, a tributary of the Godavari River.
  • Recently this dam has been dedicated to the nation by the Prime Minister.
  • Nilwande Dam consists of two linked gravity dams that use roller-compacted concrete.
  • This type of roller-compacted concrete dam has been built for the first time in India.
  • The Upper Nilwande Dam is 15 meters tall and the Lower Nilwande Dam is 86 meters tall.
  • The construction of this dam started in the year 1993.
  • It was completed in the year 2011 but the canals coming out of it have only now been constructed.
  • An 85 km long canal has been taken out from this dam.
