  • S. Venkatramanan was the former Governor of the Reserve Bank of India.
  • He passed away recently.
  • S. Venkatramanan was the Governor of the Reserve Bank of India from 1990 to 1992.
  • He was the 18th Governor of RBI.
  • Before being appointed Governor, he was the Union Finance Secretary.
  • During Venkatramanan's tenure, India also adopted the stability policy of the International Monetary Fund. Which also included the devaluation of the currency and the beginning of the economic reform plan.
  • When the policy of liberalization, privatization and globalization was adopted in India, Venkatramanan was the Governor of RBI.
