  • 18-year-old Payal Nag from Odisha created history by winning gold at the World Para Archery Series Final in Bangkok on April 4, 2026.
  • She defeated her idol Sheetal Devi with a score of 139-136 in her first senior international competition.
  • Payal lost both arms and legs at age eight in an electric shock accident and grew up in an orphanage.
  • She was trained by coach Kuldeep Kumar Vedwan using a special prosthetic support and mouth-shoulder technique.
  • Payal became the first quadruple amputee in the world to win an international gold medal in archery.
  • Her success is a big inspiration for para-sports in India.
