Micro snail species discovered in Meghalaya’s Mawsmai cave

A new species of micro snail has been discovered deep inside a limestone cave in Mawsmai Village, Meghalaya's East Khasi Hills area. The scientists who found the species on October 21, 2021, shared the news.
The newly discovered snails, dubbed 'Georissa Mawsmaiensis' by scientists, are so little that an adult measures less than 2 millimetres in length.
NA Aravind and Nipu Kumar Das of the Ashoka Trust for Research in Ecology and the Environment (ATREE) in Bangalore made the latest discovery.
