Meghalaya Cabinet approves creation of Eastern West Khasi Hills district

The Meghalaya Cabinet has approved a proposal to elevate the Mairang civil sub-division to the status of a district.
The district will be known as Eastern West Khasi Hills.
Mairang will now be part of the West Khasi Hills district.
Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad Sangma will inaugurate the new district on November 10, 2021.
The total number of districts in the state will rise to 12 as a result of this.
