·         International Day of Peace is celebrated across the world on 21 September every year.

·         The United Nations General Assembly has declared it as a day dedicated to strengthening the ideals of peace through non-violence and ceasefire 24 hours a day.

·         The theme of 2021 for International Day of Peace is "Better Recovery for an Equal and Sustainable World".

Important facts

History of this day:

v  International Day of Peace was established in 1981 by the United Nations General Assembly.

v  Two decades later, in 2001, the General Assembly unanimously voted to designate the day as a period of nonviolence and ceasefire.
