INS Anjadip to Be Commissioned at Chennai Port

  • The Indian Navy commissioned INS Anjadip, the third vessel under the Anti-Submarine Warfare Shallow Water Craft (ASW-SWC) project, on February 27, 2026, at Chennai Port in the presence of Naval Chief Dinesh K Tripathi. Built by Garden Reach Shipbuilders & Engineers, the 77-metre warship has a top speed of 25 knots and is powered by a high-speed water-jet propulsion system.
  • Designed for littoral warfare, it enhances India’s coastal defence by detecting and neutralising submarine threats in shallow waters. The vessel is equipped with Hull Mounted Sonar ‘Abhay’, lightweight torpedoes and ASW rockets, earning it the nickname “Dolphin Hunter.”
  • INS Anjadip will operate under the Eastern Naval Command, strengthening security along India’s eastern coastline. The project reflects the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative and reinforces India’s vision of becoming a self-reliant “Builder’s Navy.”
