Indore Tops Swachh Vayu Survey 2025, Also Recognized as a Wetland City

The Ministry of Environment, Forest, and Climate Change organized the Swachh Vayu Survey Awards 2025 and the Wetland City Recognition Ceremony. Union Minister Bhupender Yadav felicitated the best-performing cities across the country. Under the National Clean Air Programme (NCAP), 130 cities were evaluated, out of which 11 were selected for outstanding performance. According to the survey, Indore maintained its leading streak, securing a perfect score of 200/200, and ranked first among cities with a population of over 1 million. Jabalpur came second with 199 points, while Agra and Surat jointly secured the third spot. In the category of cities with populations between 300,000 and 1 million, Amravati topped with a perfect 200 points. Jhansi and Moradabad jointly came second, and Alwar secured third place. Among cities with populations under 300,000, Dewas ranked first, Parwanoo second, and Angul third. Adding to its achievements, Indore, along with Udaipur, received international recognition as ‘Wetland Cities’ under the Ramsar Convention for their contributions to urban wetland conservation.
