· The Indian Army will organize a 'Bijoy Cultural Festival' in Kolkata from 26 to 29 September to commemorate 50 years of Bangladesh's liberation after India's victory over Pakistan in the 1971 war.
· The events of "Bijoy Cultural Festival" will bring to the fore various stories of valor of Indian Army soldiers and Mukti Jodhas in various historical battles fought by these brave hearts in the 1971 Liberation War.
· The event was inaugurated at Rabindra Sadan in Kolkata in the presence of Army Commander and Eastern Command Lieutenant General Manoj Pandey of the war veterans.

About the 1971 war
v The Indo-Pakistani War of 1971 was a military confrontation between India and Pakistan that took place during the Bangladesh Liberation War in East Pakistan from 3 December 1971 until the fall of Dhaka on 16 December 1971.
v The Indo-Pak War effectively began after airstrikes by the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) on airfields in north-western India, including Agra as part of its Operation Genghis Khan.
v At the end of the war, about 93,000 Pakistani soldiers, led by General Amir Abdullah Khan Niazi, surrendered to the Allied forces. They were returned as part of the 1972 Shimla Agreement.
