The Indian Army has taken a major step to secure its tactical airspace with the induction of the indigenously developed “Saksham” Counter-Unmanned Aerial System (CUAS) Grid, capable of detecting, tracking, identifying, and neutralizing hostile drones in real-time. Created in collaboration with Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), Ghaziabad, Saksham functions over the Army Data Network (ADN) and provides a unified Recognised UAS Picture (RUASP) up to 3,000 meters above ground. The system integrates AI-powered threat analysis, multi-sensor fusion, soft-kill jammers, and hard-kill interceptors for a fast and coordinated response. Designed to be modular and interoperable, it can work alongside platforms like Akashteer, protecting frontline units, artillery positions, and logistics hubs from drone attacks.
