India to stop importing urea by end of 2025: Mandaviya

According to Chemicals and Fertilizers Minister Mansukh Mandaviya, India will stop importing urea by the end of 2025.
He ensured that a massive thrust on domestic manufacturing had helped bridge the gap between supply and demand.
The government of India has set a target to completely stop the import of urea by 2025, which aims to reduce the gap between supply and demand with an increase in domestic production.
Government has taken steps to promote alternative fertilizers, such as Nano Liquid Urea and Nano Liquid Di-Ammonium Phosphate (DAP), which promote the convergent use of chemical fertilizers.
The government has launched the 'PM Programme for Restoration, Awareness, Nutrition and Improvement of Mother Earth' (PM-PRANAM) scheme, with the main objective of encouraging States and Union Territories (UTs) to use alternative fertilizers.
