India’s longest river cruise to start between Varanasi and Bogibeel from 2023

  • India's longest river cruise service will be launched early next year between Varanasi and Bogibeel.
  • Two floating jetties are being constructed at Dibrugarh’s Bogibeel and Guijan in Tinsukia district.
  • The cruise service will be traversing a distance of more than 4000 kms across Ganga, Indo Bangladesh Protocol Route (IBPR), and Brahmaputra.
  • The cruise would be the latest in a string of connectivity and development projects in the northeast. 
  • National Waterways on the Ganges, the Brahmaputra and Barak rivers are also being developed to reduce travel costs to Bangladesh.
