·         उत्तराखंड के रानीखेत में भारत की सबसे बड़ी ओपन-एयर फर्नी का उद्घाटन किया गया है।

·         नया केंद्र 'फर्न प्रजातियों के संरक्षण के साथ-साथ' उनकी पारिस्थितिक भूमिका के बारे में जागरूकता पैदा करने और आगे के शोध को बढ़ावा देने के दोहरे उद्देश्य की पूर्ति करेगा।

·         फ़र्नरी बड़ी संख्या में फ़र्न प्रजातियों का घर है, जिनमें से कुछ राज्य के लिए स्थानिक हैं, कुछ औषधीय महत्व रखते हैं जबकि कुछ खतरे वाली प्रजातियां हैं जो देखभाल और संरक्षण की मांग करती हैं।
