Indian Railways has launched the country’s first LNG-Diesel dual-fuel Diesel Electric Multiple Unit (DEMU) train at Sabarmati, Ahmedabad. The system uses Liquefied Natural Gas (LNG) to replace about 40% of diesel, reducing emissions and fuel costs without affecting performance. After successful trials covering over 2,000 km, the train is now in regular passenger service, marking a key step towards cleaner and greener rail transport.
