India’s First Indigenous P15 Ship INS Visakhapatnam Formally Inducted in the Indian Navy Fleet

  • The Indian Navy's firepower received a significant boost with the arrival of INS Visakhapatnam, one of four stealth guided-missile destroyer ships under Project 15B, at the Western Naval Command in Mumbai.
  • INS Visakhapatnam has been built by MDSL.
  • Visakhapatnam is stocked with supersonic surface-to-surface and surface-to-air missiles, medium and short-range artillery, anti-submarine rockets, and modern electronic warfare and communication gear, among other weaponry and sensors.
  • The ship can also fight in NBC (nuclear, biological, and chemical) warfare scenarios.
