India and Bahrain held the 5th High Joint Commission meeting in New Delhi, led by Dr. S. Jaishankar and Dr. Abdullatif bin Rashid Al Zayani. Both nations reaffirmed defence cooperation, particularly in the naval sector, and began talks on a Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), Bilateral Investment Treaty (BIT) and Double Taxation Avoidance Agreement (DTAA). They also agreed to enhance collaboration in counterterrorism, cybersecurity, and emerging sectors like fintech, health and space. Bilateral trade reached USD 1.64 billion, reflecting deepening strategic and economic ties.
