According to the Global Peace Index 2025, released by the Institute for Economics and Peace (IEP), India ranks 115th out of 163 countries, marking a 0.58% improvement in peacefulness compared to last year. India ranks ahead of neighbours Bangladesh (123rd), Pakistan (144th), and Afghanistan (158th). At the global level, Iceland retained its position as the world’s most peaceful country for the 18th consecutive year, followed by Ireland, New Zealand and Switzerland. Singapore remains the only Asian country in the top 10.
