Veteran political leader and Jharkhand Mukti Morcha (JMM) founder, Shibu Soren, passed away in New Delhi at the age of 81. First elected to the Lok Sabha from Dumka in 1980, Soren served three short-lived terms as Jharkhand Chief Minister and also held a Union Cabinet post. Despite his prominence, he was defeated in Dumka in 2019 by BJP’s Nalin Soren. His political legacy shaped Jharkhand’s tribal politics for decades.
