The Union Government has nominated four distinguished individuals — diplomat Harsh Vardhan Shringla, senior public prosecutor Ujjwal Nikam, BJP leader C. Sadanandan, and historian Dr. Meenakshi Jain — to the Rajya Sabha under Article 80 of the Constitution. Prime Minister Narendra Modi lauded their contributions in diplomacy, law, social service, and history. Shringla, after retiring from foreign service, coordinated the G20 Summit in 2023, while Nikam is known for prosecuting high-profile terrorism cases.
