· Noted feminist activist Kamala Bhasin passed away after battling cancer.
· Bhasin has been a strong voice for women since the 1970s and is known for her work with 'Sangat', a feminist network founded by her that works towards the upliftment of rural and tribal women.
· Bhasin joined the Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) of the United Nations in 1976 and retired in 2002.
