Eastern Imperial Eagle Spotted at Mudumalai Tiger Reserve

A rare Eastern Imperial Eagle was sighted at Mudumalai Tiger Reserve during the 2025–26 winter season, highlighting the reserve’s growing importance as a winter refuge for migratory raptors. The species, a vulnerable winter migrant to India, breeds in Central and Western Asia and travels south during winters. Experts note that Mudumalai’s rich prey base, diverse habitats and low disturbance make it ideal for long-distance migratory birds of prey.
