Bhupendra Patel will take oath as the new Chief Minister of Gujarat

·         Ghatlodia BJP MLA Bhupendra Patel will take oath as the new Chief Minister of Gujarat today. State Governor Acharya Devvrat will administer the oath of office and secrecy to him at 2:20 pm at Raj Bhavan in Gandhinagar. Patel, 59, who became an MLA for the first time, was unanimously elected the leader of the BJP Legislature Party yesterday.

·         He met the Governor in the evening and staked claim to form the new government in the state following the resignation of Vijay Rupani as the Chief Minister of Gujarat.

·         Mr. Patel has previously served as the Chairman of the Memnagar Municipality in Ahmedabad and the Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Ahmedabad Municipal Corporation and Ahmedabad Urban Development Authority.

·         He defeated Congress candidate Shashikant Patel by a margin of 1 lakh 17 thousand votes in the 2017 Gujarat Assembly elections from Ghatlodia constituency.
